What is Your Spiritual Temperature?  

  • II Timothy 1:6 (NIV) “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you, through the laying on of my hands.”
  • Revelation 3:15-16 “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot.  I wish you were either one or the other!  So, because you are lukewarm – neither hot nor cold – I am about to spit you out of my mouth.”
  1. HOT: You are GROWING
  • II Thessalonians 1:3 (NIV) Your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing.”
  1. COLD: You don’t KNOW God yet
  • John 1:12 “But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.”
  1. LUKEWARM: You are DRIFTING
  • Hebrews 2:1 (NIV) “We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.”

7 Ways to Raise Your Spiritual Temperature

  1. Get into God’s Word 
  • Luke 24:32 “Did not our hearts burn within us while He talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”
  • Hebrews 4:12 (AMP) “For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective].  It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
  1. Get your Worship on 
  • Romans 12:1 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship.”
  1. Pray to your Heavenly Father 
  • Matthew 6:6 “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen.  Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
  1. Get under Accountability 
  • Ephesians 6:2-3 “Honor your father and mother – which is the first commandment with a promise – so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”
  1. Get rid of your Resentments
  • Matthew 24:10 “And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.”
  • Mark 11:25 “When ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”
  1. Fellowship with Friends of Faith
  • I Corinthians 15:33 “Do not be misled: Bad company corrupts good character. (34) Come back to your senses as you ought and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God – I say this to your shame.”
  1. Practice your Spiritual Gifts 
    • Matthew 7:24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”
    • Jude 1:20 “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.”
    • I Corinthians 12:8-10 - Gifts of the Spirit (Manifested Power of God)
  • Galatians 5:22-23 - Fruit of the Spirit (Character and Virtue of God)
  • Matthew 3:11 “I baptize you with water for repentance.  But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.”
