The Battle Cry of Praise

“And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praise, unto the Lord.” Psalm 27:6

As you discover the joy of singing praises to the Lord, consider also that the same Hebrew word for “sacrifices of joy” (terou’a) is used for the battle cry of the soldiers in time of war.

Amos 1:14 describes a “shouting [terou’a] in the day of battle.” Indeed, the New International Version of Psalm 27:6 gives the interpretation as: “…at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy…” The word “shouting” appears many times in the Psalms. So do not be afraid to make noise.

Jeremiah 4:19 mentions “the sound of the trumpet, the alarm [terou’a] of war.” The same battle cry that fills the enemy with terror brings blessing and praise to God!

Today, if you feel under attack by the enemy or if you are suffering defeat in your life…SING the song of PRAISE unto the Lord. The battle cry of PRAISE will cause the enemy to retreat, and you will find yourself the winner of a great spiritual battle.

PRAY: “I will sing praise to you with the lyre, 0 Holy One of Israel. My lips will shout for joy when I sing to you I, whom you have redeemed.’* Thank You for victory, Father! Amen.”
