“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.” Isaiah 60:1
A favorite song that is sung at Christian Retreat is taken from Isaiah 60:1: “Rise, shine, for thy Light is come!” It is more than a catchy phrase; it is a battle anthem, exhorting you to rise up and move on in renewed faith in God to overcome your enemies.
Micah 7:8 speaks of a restored Church (Israel): “Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall ARISE; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a LIGHT unto me.” (Emphasis supplied.)
Whatever your enemies of last year were…financial distress, family problems, job changes, sickness, or whatever…it is time to RISE AND SHINE through the power of His might, learning from the past, but pressing on toward God’s higher calling for your life. (See Philippians 3:14.)
Whatever your failures of last year were…David says, in Psalm 37:24: “Though he fall, he shall not he utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.” So take His hand, get up, and move on.
PRAY: “My loving Father, thank You for bringing me through my personal battles of last year. Thank You for picking me up when I stumbled. I am forever grateful. I know that, as I wait upon You, my strength will be renewed. So I can PRESS ON in Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
