- (5) Nuggets of Wisdom
- 1 Kings 18 Elijah and the contest on Mt. Carmel - 1 Kings 18
- 1. He challenges 850 prophets of Baal & Asherah and wins. God consumed the Sacrifice.
- 2. Elijah and the men capture the 450 prophets of Baal and slaughter them.
- 3. Elijah prayed, and God sent rain, ending a 3 ½-year drought. Saving that Region from starvation.
- 4. Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, and said May the gods kill me if I don’t kill you by this time tomorrow.
- 1 Kings 19:3 KJV 3 And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there.
4 But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness and came and sat down under a “juniper” or broom tree. And he prayed that he might die, and said, “It is enough! Now, Lord, take my life, for I am no better than my fathers!”
(1) The heart does not discriminate; it produces any type of seed, whether good or evil.
2 Corinthians 12:7 (Paul’s thorn in the flesh)
7 And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.
(2) The messenger of Satan comes to steal, kill & destroy, and to remind us of our past.
Mark 4:26 KJV (Seedtime) 26 And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; 27 And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how. 28 For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.
(3) The battle is ALWAYS won or lost beneath the surface.
- Hebrews 12:14 NKJV Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: 15 looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled;
Mark 4:17
- …afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended. KJV
- …when trouble or persecution arises on account of the Word, they immediately are offended. AMPC The SPIRIT OF FEAR had overtaken their minds, will & emotions.
- They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word. NLT
(4) Don’t pressure your faith by sharing before it comes to pass.
- Proverbs 4:23 Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life. (intentional actions)
(5) If you can be faithful over a little. A little stress, a little discomfort and trouble. You will be ruler over much.
- Psalm 15:2 NLT A Good Person
- Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right, speaking the truth from sincere hearts. 3 Those who refuse to gossip or harm their neighbors or speak evil of their friends. 4 Those who despise flagrant sinners, and honor the faithful followers of the Lord, and keep their promises even when it hurts. 5 …Such people will stand firm forever.
