Mother’s Day – “Fire & Glory”

I Thessalonians 5:13-22 (NIV) – In the Last Days, Perilous times, Before the Day of the Lord
Choices to make towards others… (7 things)
- Live in peace with each other
- Warn those who are idle and disruptive
- Encourage the disheartened
- Help the weak
- Be patient with everyone
- Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong
- Always strive to do what is good for each other
Choices to make for ourselves… (7 things)
- Rejoice always
- Pray continually
- Give thanks in all circumstances; this is God’s will for you
- Do not quench the Spirit
- Do not treat prophecies with contempt
- But test them all; hold on to what is good
- Reject every kind of evil
· I Thessalonians 5:23 “May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (24) The one who calls you is faithful, and HE WILL DO IT!”
· II Timothy 1:6 (NIV) “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you…”
Three Elements of Fire
1. Air – God (breathed life into our being – spirit, soul, & body)… Eternal breath.
2. Fuel – Jesus (gave us New Life)… Eternal Life.
· John 11:25 “I Am the Resurrection and the Life. Anyone who believes in Me will live, even after dying.”
3. Heat (spark) – Holy Spirit (ignites our New Life; activator) Heat energy to initiate reaction… Eternal Power.
· John 14:16 “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever.”
The 4th Element – when we choose to invite the three elements to work together in our lives
· A “Spiritual” chain reaction (combustion)
· II Corinthians 3:18 “And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
