Fan The Flame – Read the Word

God’s Word is like a Fire
· II Timothy 1:6 (NIV) “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you, through the laying on of my hands.”
· Jeremiah 23:29 “Is not my word like as a fire? saith the Lord; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?”
· II Timothy 4:3 “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; (4) And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”
· Fables: (Gr.) Mythos - Myth (passed down mouth to mouth)
· Bible Pledge: This is my Bible. I am what it says I am. I have what it says I have. I can do what it says I can do. God created me. God put me here. God has a purpose for my life. And, God is empowering me to fulfill His Purpose. Today I will receive the incorruptible, indestructible, ever-living seed of the Word of God and I will never be the same.
God's Word is God-breathed
· II Timothy 3:16 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. (17) That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished (equipped) unto all good works.”
· (NIV) “All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”
· Romans 10:17 “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
God's Word is Profitable (7 ways)
1. Salvation
· I Peter 1:23 “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever.”
· John 15:3 “Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.”
· John 17:17 “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”
2. Keeps me from Sinning
· Psalm 119:9 “How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word.”
· Psalm 119:11 “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”
· James 1:22 “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” (mirror)
3. Authority over the Devil
· Luke 4:4,8,12 (Jesus) “It is written…”
· Ephesians 6:17 “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
· I John 2:14 “I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you…”
4. Growth in Righteousness
· I Peter 2:2 “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.”
· Matthew 4:4 “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”
· II Timothy 3:16 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for… instruction in righteousness.”
5. Direction
· Psalm 119:105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
· Psalm 119:130 “The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.”
· Psalm 37:23 “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD; and he delighteth in his way.”
6. Healing
· Proverbs 4:22 “My son, attend to my words… For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.”
· Psalm 119:165 “Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.”
· Matthew 8:8 (Centurion) “But speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.”
7. Fruitfulness & Prosperity
· Psalm 1:3 “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
· Mark 4:20 “And these are they which are sown on good ground: such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.”
