“If a man vow a vow unto the Lord, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth.” Numbers 30:2
God considers vows very seriously. Throughout scripture, you can observe blessings upon those who kept their vows and curses upon those who did not. Today, marriage vows are taken far too lightly.
Have you ever considered your decision to serve Christ as a VOW? By definition, a “vow” is “an earnest promise or pledge that binds one to a specific act or defined behavior.” A vow is SPOKEN. A vow is a serious matter. SALVATION IS A SERIOUS MATTER.
Consider RENEWING your vow to God today. Pray a prayer of repentance again and express your devotion to God. “God, help me to move from COMMITMENT (of mind) to DEVOTION (of heart).”
Job said, “Though he [God] slay me, yet will I trust in him.” (Job 13:15a) The three Hebrew boys said, “Even if God doesn’t deliver us . . . we still won’t bow to your idols.” (Daniel 3:18, NIV, paraphrased) Peter said, “We must obey God rather than men!” (Acts 5:29b, NIV) David said, “My zeal [for God] hath consumed me…(Psalm 119:139a).
What will YOUR expression of commitment to God be today?
PRAY: “Forgiving Father, I repent of my sins, and I renew my vow to You today. Please forgive me. Receive my expression of undying devotion. I love You, Lord. Amen.”
