“But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 19:14
One out of every four people alive now is a child. Eighty-five percent of the body of Christ had a spiritual experience or was “born again” between the ages of 4 and 18 years; ten percent between the ages of 16 and 25 years. People are influenced more easily in their early years of life. The older a person gets, the more influences have shaped him, and the more difficult it becomes to change.
Proverbs 22:6 wisely says: “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Children need to know how to apply godly principles to their everyday conflicts. It is not easy, and clichés and “pat” answers will not suffice as more and more young children face drugs, abduction, humanism, divorce, step-families, single-parent families, loneliness, abuse, and the list goes on.
Be a caring parent or grandparent, aunt or uncle, Big Sister or Big Brother…help teach children how to find answers to their questions and then how to make those answers work so “that they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments.” (Psalm 78:7)
PRAY: “Father, help me to keep a focus on my responsibility as a role model for children. Help me trust and serve You like a child without condition or self-ambition. In Jesus’ Name, amen.”
