“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together…but exhorting one another…” Hebrews 10:24-25
The word “consider” in the Greek is translated “discover.” DISCOVER one another…” It is interesting how people can bump shoulders with one another regularly in church…be seated close together, share handshakes and greetings…yet, friendships tend to be shallow. In church services, the focus is generally more toward VERTICAL relationships with God than HORIZONTAL relationships with fellow believers.
The New Testament Church “discovered one another” by coming into one accord in the TEMPLE and…by breaking bread HOUSE TO HOUSE. (See Acts 2:46.) The 21st Century Church must do the same.
Remember, Christianity is relationship, not religion…relationship with God and one another. Your spirituality is practiced ANYWHERE and EVERYWHERE. Christ has made a difference IN YOUR HEART, and that makes you a SPIRITUAL member of the body of Christ wherever you are. Sharing your converted life-style OUTSIDE of the church is the best way to provoke… encourage, excite…one another into LOVE and GOOD WORKS. Go ahead somebody desperately needs your love.
PRAY: “Heavenly Father, provoke me into sharing my life outside the church walls and ‘be given to hospitality.’* Amen.”
