“Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book? When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.” Psalm 56:8-9
Has there ever been a time in your life when you refused to cry anymore because the emotional pain was too great to bear? Were you ever told not to cry when you got hurt? Do you feel society does not allow men to manifest deep emotions through tears?
If you answered “yes” to any of those questions, make a 180-degree turnaround today. GOD IS MOVED BY YOUR TEARS. Your tears get God’s attention. Remember, it was God who created your emotions and bodies with the natural instinct to cry. Tears are an indication of a broken heart and humble spirit.
Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.” Your tears bring God closer to you.
It is a hardened, calloused heart that tries to fight back the tears and “handle” the situation alone. Let the tears flow today… you may need a good, long cry! God is recording the cry of your heart so that He can act on your behalf and minister lovingly to your needs.
PRAY: “Gracious, loving Lord, I realize now that You feel the same emotions that I feel… and You care deeply for me. I want to trust You enough to express my heart freely through my tears. I love You, Lord. Amen.”
