“The Lord hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary….” Isaiah 50:4a

Consider the value of a single word of encouragement at a crucial time in your life. It may have meant the difference between failure and victory, even life or death.

In Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 we read, “Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.”

See the value of a friend — someone who is always “in season” with an encouraging word; someone who is there to pick you up when you fall. Friendships do not just happen. You have to be open to communication and sometimes even be aggressive. Why not smile and introduce yourself to someone new today?

Remember, a beautiful word of faith and encouragement brings to pass beautiful things!

PRAY: “Father, You have given me words of encouragement through my pastor and friends and even strangers at times. In the early church, Your servant Barnabas was always confirming and exhorting disciples to continue in the faith in tough times.* Help me to be a present-day Barnabas. I pray in the Name of Jesus. Amen.”
