“That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.” I Peter 1:7

The “trial of your faith” speaks of those circumstances and situations in life that create pressure. Pressure can either draw you closer to God or cause you to reject God. It is a “test” or a “trial” of your faith.

Peter speaks of these trials as being more precious than gold. WHY? Because they build CHARACTER…if you learn from them. CHARACTER is not a gift; it must be learned, or earned.

Salvation does not automatically give you CHARACTER; it gives you God’s LIFE and the potential for godly CHARACTER.

The Baptism in the Holy Spirit does not give you CHARACTER; it gives you POWER to overcome the pressure and grow in CHARACTER.

There just is no substitute for pressure to build CHARACTER, and God is interested in good CHARACTER.

So rejoice in the tribulations…you are growing in CHARACTER!

PRAY: “Heavenly Father, it is not comfortable to be under pressure and stress, but thank You for making provision by Your Spirit to help me pass the tests. I am more than a conqueror through Christ.* Amen.”
