This year at the Feast of Tabernacles we will be constructing a Sukkah Village and you are invited to participate! A sukkah, often translated as “booth”, is a temporary hut constructed for use during the week-long festival of Sukkot also called the Feast of Booths or Feast of Tabernacles. You may construct you own sukkah for Sukkah Village! The sukkah commemorates the time God provided for the Israelites after they were freed from slavery in Egypt. It is reminiscent of the type of fragile dwellings made of tree branches in which the Israelites lived during their 40 years of travel in the wilderness. It is common to eat and spend time in the sukkah during the Feast. Sukkot is considered a joyous occasion and the sukkah is often decorated with harvest or Judaic themes. . Please read Leviticus 23:33-44 and Nehemiah 8:14-17.
